There's really only so much info I can give... this is the lowest timeout I can
use that appears to allow the store tests to pass consistently. *Sometimes* they
work with the default timeout, but it's pretty rare; more usually I see "OOPS: 1
passed, 2 FIXTURE-PANICKED, 25 MISSED".

My understanding is that rogpeppe has seen this problem on occasion as well...
perhaps not as consistently as I do?

Yeah, sorry, I'm not disagreeing that you are having issues or that this is
solving you problem. I'm trying to understand why this is happening, though,
since 10 seconds is a lot and I'd prefer we didn't accepted that penalty as the
way things should work.

Can you please try to add --nojournal to the list of arguments to mongod as a
first step? That should give a hand to reducing the start up time of the
process.
